Home Information Packs (Hips)

If you are going to be involved with any purchases or sales of a property then you will most definitely need to understand what Home Information Packs (Hips) are and how they affect you.

As of 14th December 2007 any properties that are put on the market for sale within England and Wales will need a HIP.  The HIPs programme commenced earlier on in the year and was started to phase in from 1st August 2007.

The general purpose of HIPs is focused on carbon emissions, fuel bills and information about the property.

A HIP is a set of information, requirements and guidelines provided to buyers and sellers.  The pack contains documentation such as an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate), statements concerning the sale, title and searches details.
